undergoing medical: Nottingham Forest has signed a top-class winger

Nottingham Forest are closing in on the signing of winger Willian amid claims he is undergoing a medical.

That is according to BBC East Midlands Today Sports Editor Natalie Jackson, who claims that Willian is set for Forest.

It’s stated that a number of clubs have been trying to sign Willian but he has now picked Forest as his next club.

Jackson claims that Willian is now undergoing a medical with Forest as he puts the finishing touches to his move.

The London Evening Standard suggested earlier today that Forest were growing increasingly confident of signing Willian.

The move appears to have accelerated rapidly and Willian is now on the verge of becoming a Forest player.

Willian’s Fulham contract has ended this summer and rather than stay at Craven Cottage, he is seemingly heading to Forest on a free transfer.

The Athletic’s Simon Johnson suggests that Willian isn’t having a medical but is just looking around the Forest facilities ahead of making his final decision.

Forest may well want to get Willian to run through a medical whilst he is there, and although this latest update may feel like a step back, Forest do appear to be closing in.

What are Forest getting in Willian?

Many would have expected Willian’s Premier League career to have been dead and buried in 2021.

A move from Chelsea to Arsenal really didn’t work out and the Gunners ripped up his contract just a year in.

Willian headed back to Brazil with Corinthians and earned himself a return to the Premier League with Fulham.

The 34-year-old proved to be a creative force for Fulham, racking up 51 key passes in the Premier League.

Only one Forest player – Morgan Gibbs-White – register more key passes last season.

Willian will add another creative threat to Steve Cooper’s side and that extra bit of experience may be valuable as Forest tackle the tricky second season.

Willian adds to Forest’s Brazilian contingent

Renan Lodi may not be coming back but Forest still have a strong group of Brazilian talents.

Danilo and Gustavo Scarpa arrived from Palmeiras in January whilst defender Felipe came in from Atletico Madrid.

Willian won’t be short of compatriots to connect with at the City Ground and that may well have been a factor in his decision to pick Forest.

Who knows, with Forest allegedly keen on signing Sao Paulo midfielder Pablo Maia too, there may be one more coming in yet.
