IT OFFICIAL: Man Utd has signed a top-class star as David de Gea’s replacement

Man Utd close to completing second summer transfer as Erik ten Hag eyes further two signings

The latest Manchester United transfer news as David de Gea’s replacement is set to join imminently.

Manchester United are close to completing a transfer for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana.

The Red Devils have been in talks with the Serie A side over recent days and there’s an expectation that the two clubs are close to agreeing a fee. The Times report that United has offered £47m for Onana, who was identified by Erik ten Hag as the long-term replacement for David de Gea.

The Spaniard announced his departure from Old Trafford last week, ending his 12-year stint in Manchester. De Gea is likely to be followed out of the club by Dean Henderson, once the Onana transfer is confirmed. The United youth graduate is expected to return permanently to Nottingham Forest, where he spent last season on loan. Agreeing a transfer fee has been a sticking point between the clubs, although there’s optimism a deal will be concluded, especially when United have attained a new no.1.

Once the Onana deal is completed, United will turn its attention elsewhere in the market. The Red Devils are still eager to add a center-forward, the position identified as the main priority before the summer window. However, the developing goalkeeper situation and the availability of Mason Mount altered United’s initial plans.

At present, Rasmus Hojlund is seen as the most likely striker to join, despite reports that United have been surprised at Atalanta’s outlandish valuation of the young Dane.

Midfield is also seen as a key area where the club wants to invest, with Sofyan Amrabat viewed as a potential signing. That could depend on the departures of other midfielders, and Ten Hag is willing to sell Scott McTominay and Fred to finance a deal, while the latter has had an offer from Galatasaray turned down by the Red Devils, as per Fabrizio Romano.

United’s ability to sell this summer will have a huge impact on their chances of adding new signings in the window. In addition to Henderson, McTominay, and Fred, United would allow Harry Maguire, Eric Bailly, Brandon Williams, Alex Telles, Donny van de Beek, and Anthony Martial to leave. Anthony Elanga has drawn interest from several Premier League sides, but talks are still ongoing and a deal is not likely to be concluded soon.
