Leeds United transfer news as agreement close for Wilfried Gnonto to seal Elland Road exit – Sky Sports

Leeds United forward Wilfried Gnonto is now closing in on sealing his Elland Road, with an agreement close with Everton, according to Sky Sport Italia.

How Wilfried Gnonto's 'infectious personality' and bargain fee have made him an instant hit at Leeds

The 19-year-old has been one of the key names in West Yorkshire wanted by a number of sides this summer and it looks as if he is set to continue his Premier League dream with Everton closing in on a move for the Italian wonderkid.

Italian outlet Sportitella (10 July), taking to their personal Twitter account reported that Gnonto will now be wearing new colours for next season and that now appears to be blue, with Sky Italia reporting late on Friday night (14 July, 11:59pm) that Everton are closing in on the former Inter Milan youngster.

“The English club is ever closer to closing for the striker of our national team. The class of 2003 could therefore continue his adventure in England”, Sky Italia writes.

Gnonto looks set to follow Rodrigo, Tyler Roberts, Brendan Aaronson, Robin Koch, Diego Llorente and Rasmus Kristensen out the Elland Road doors.

Inevitable

It was always inevitable the Whites were going to lose Gnonto given their Championship plight right now, and more big names at Elland Road may be walking out the Thorp Arch exit door, with the likes of Rodrigo, Tyler Adams, Illan Meslier, Patrick Bamford, Crycensio Summerville all expected to be in new shirt colours too next season.

It is imperative Leeds United negotiate the best prices they can for each player to fund their assault on the transfer market to revamp a squad ready for Daniel Farke’s use after his appointment at the helm.

Gnonto is a huge loss for the club and certainly, some fans will have loved to see him stay and continue his rapid development in the Championship, but his desire to remain in the England top-flight is understandable as his talents warrant such a stage next season.

And the Elland Road faithful will be hoping the club receive a very healthy fee for the Italian’s services with the 49ers set to begin their transfer market exploits to bolster Daniel Farke’s ranks this summer. And that need is incredibly desperate with the new Championship season just a few weeks away. Race against time.

In other Leeds United news, with Illan Meslier expected to leave Elland Road this summer, the club have identified their new goalkeeper target from a recent Champions League-winning giant.
