Tottenham Hotspur has signed a 20-year-old Paris Saint-Germain attacking midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur have been offered a chance to sign 20-year-old Paris Saint-Germain attacking midfielder Xavi Simons.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Tottenham Hotspur have an opportunity to acquire the services of Xavi Simons. The 20-year-old has recently returned to Paris Saint-Germain and the French club have offered to Tottenham as they look to strike a deal for Harry Kane.

Simons came into the limelight very early in his career because of his immense potential. The 20-year-old came through the ranks at the famous youth academy of Barcelona. But, he left the Catalan giants for PSG youth academy back in the summer of 2019.

While the expectation was that he would break into their first team in no time and start being a regular, things never really worked out for the Dutch international at PSG. He was left frustrated and ended up joining PSV Eindhoven ahead of the 2022-23 season.

While it was a free transfer, there was a buy-back clause included by the French club which could’ve triggered if the player agreed to return.

During the 2022-23 season, Simons featured in a total of 48 matches for the Dutch club. He racked up close to 3800 minutes and contributed towards 34 goals. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder found the back of the net on 22 occasions and also registered 12 assists.

And, after an exceptional season at PSV Eindhoven, PSG have decided to make use of the clause and Simons has given the green light to the move. However, his future is still not certain at the French club with a possibility of a loan move away from the club or even a permanent transfer.

The report by Di Marzio suggests that he could be used by PSG in their pursuit of Harry Kane. The French club are looking for a new leader for their attack amidst uncertainty around Kylian Mbappé and Neymar’s future. And, they have their eyes set on Kane.

However, they will have to battle it out with Bayern Munich to sign him. The German giants have been involved in negotiations with Spurs for weeks. PSG understand that it is a very complex deal but they are still willing to go all out.

The French club are looking to lower the asking price by adding the Dutch sensation Xavi Simons to the deal. The 20-year-old is an exceptional talent who has revived himself last season and he could play a huge role in this Harry Kane transfer saga.
