sealed deal: Leeds United ‘has signed a key star defender as Max Wober replacement

Leeds United ‘checking’ on international defender as potential Max Wober replacement

Leeds United are reportedly checking on defender Aurele Amenda as they seek replacements for the seemingly outgoing Max Wober.

According to reports, Wober is close to joining German side Borussia Monchengladbach on a season-long loan deal despite only having arrived at Elland Road in January.

Mail Plus have claimed Leeds have shown an interest in Amenda as they look to bolster their defensive ranks. The 19-year-old is currently contracted to BSC Young Boys, the reigning Swiss Super League champions, and is a Switzerland under-21 international.

If Leeds were to secure his signature, he would become the second young Swiss defender to have joined within the last year following the signing of Diogo Monteiro.

Despite his tender age, Amenda is an imposing figure standing at 6ft 4ins and this may appeal to Leeds following the loss of defenders including Rasmus Kristensen and Robin Koch.

Charlie Crew has committed his future to Leeds United after excelling in his first year with the club

Leeds United U21s midfielder Charlie Crew has signed his first professional contract with the club. Crew has put pen to paper on a two year deal that will keep him at Thorp Arch until the summer of 2025 and it comes after an impressive first season with the Whites.

The Welshman, who turned 17 over the summer, joined United from Cardiff City last summer and stepped straight into the club’s U18s side. However, his performances in the middle of the park were strong enough to see him make the step up to the U21s under Michael Skubala before the World Cup break to play Premier League 2 Division 2 football.

Crew went on to make 10 appearances for the U21s last season, including two starts, as he helped the Whites to promotion back to the top flight. With his new deal in the bag, he’ll hope to build on the progress made in his first year this time around.

With Darko Gyabi and Archie Gray currently striving to make the step up to the senior ranks, centre-midfielder Crew could land more opportunities to show what he can do under Skubala. The 17-year-old has represented Wales at a number of youth levels in the past and he captained his country at the UEFA U17 European Championships in May.

However, this summer also saw him called up to Wales’ U21 squad and while he didn’t get on, he was part of the squad that took on Denmark last month.
