Fabrizio Romano issues update on Leeds United’s quest to sign Newcastle keeper Karl Darlow amid Bournemouth links

Leeds United have verbally agreed to sign Newcastle goalkeeper Karl Darlow who was also linked with Bournemouth, claims Fabrizio Romano.

The Sky Sports Italy journalist reported that the final details were left to iron out before the Whites can sign the 32-year-old.

He’s expected to be the club’s second signing this summer after Ethan Ampadu was signed from Chelsea.

Via Twitter, Romano wrote, “Leeds United are closing in on Karl Darlow deal as the verbal agreement is in place with Newcastle, waiting to clarify on final details. Almost there.

“Jamal Lewis will leave #NUFC to join Watford on loan. Andrei Radu will undergo medical at Bournemouth today.”

Good news

Illan Meslier lost his spot in the playing eleven last season and there’s a good chance that Daniel Farke doesn’t see him as good enough to be the first choice next term either.

Signing Darlow will give the Whites an experienced option between the sticks and it remains to be seen what happens with the Frenchman.

Ideally, loaning Meslier out, maybe back to a club in his native country, will help him rekindle his form and confidence.

This was once a keeper that the top clubs in the Premier League wanted as an option for the next decade.

Leeds was also banking that he would rake in a lot of money, but the last six months have changed this drastically.

Newcastle United - Karl Darlow

Darlow looks to be a good signing and the fact that he wanted to join ahead of Bournemouth is only a good thing for the Whites.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites have agreed on personal terms to secure their next signing after Ethan Ampadu.
