Everton has signed a talented Under-20 World Cup winner

Everton and Tottenham Hotspur in transfer battle for Facundo Gonzalez

Everton, Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus are understood to be keen on signing Valencia centre-back Facundo Gonzalez, according to Tutto Juve

The Italian news outlet claims [28 July] the Under-20 World Cup winner with Uruguay is open to leave the Spanish club this summer.

The 20-year-old is still to make his senior bow for Valencia, having featured on numerous occasions for their B team.

Tough one

The Toffees know that they’re going to be up against it if they are to beat Spurs and Juventus to the signing of a player.

One club can offer him European football and the chance to compete for trophies while the other one will offer a lucrative financial package.

Everton have been battling relegation for the last two seasons and even for the upcoming campaign, that appears to be the primary goal.

To sign the Uruguayan ahead of these two clubs would mean putting out an incredible financial deal which he will find too hard to turn down.

Firstly, they do not have the resources to do that and even if they did, getting this deal over the line is easier said than done.

Also, he’s not made his senior debut yet so it would be a gamble to sign him and they’re better off looking at more experienced options.

In other Everton news, an exit-linked Toffees player has recently been spotted in talks with a senior Goodison Park figure ahead of the new season.
