Tottenham keen on £60 million-rated Premier League attacker

Tottenham remain keen on Brennan Johnson

Tottenham Hotspur retain interest in Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson

According to The Athletic, Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur are still interested in securing the services of Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson in the ongoing summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old is attracting much attention after a solid season at the City ground in 2022-23. Having come through the ranks at Nottingham, Johnson is now one of the club’s best players as his reputation continues to soar.

The Welshman is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also do a job out wide if needed. A solid dribbler with an eye for a pass, the youngster is tailor-made for Ange Postecoglou’s attacking setup. The Ability to think out side the box and link up well with teammates should help Tottenham evolve into a side with a multi-pronged serpent leading its attack.

Johnson is attracting much attention from other Premier League clubs but Forest continue to stand firm. Brentford recently had a £35m bid turned down and it remains to be seen if the Bees will up their offer in the coming weeks.

Forest value Johnson at £50m, a big amount for a player with just one season of top flight football to his name. However, at 22, he will only get better and is a long-term investment. Tottenham will certainly be better off adding him to their roster.

Spurs have already brought in an attacking midfielder this summer – James Maddison. Adding Johnson will help Postecoglou rotate the former Leicester City man and also play with dual number tens behind a centre forward. This should make Tottenham difficult to predict and give them the advantage in terms of putting together a fluid attack.

Forest could sign 30 new players by selling Brennan Johnson, but his ability will be cherished

With Harry Kane’s future far from resolved, it is debatable if Spurs see another number 10 as their priority at this moment in time. With a centre-back and an infallible first-choice goalkeeper yet to be brought in, Tottenham have far bigger concerns to contend with this summer.

With the new campaign just weeks away, there is still much work to be done at the north London club. Whether Johnson will see himself rise up the wishlist before the window shuts remains to be seen.
