Here are your Leicester City headlines on Saturday, July 15, 2023.

Doyle signs

Leicester City have secured their third new signing of the summer with exciting Manchester City defender Callum Doyle joining on a season-long loan.

The 19-year-old will link up with Enzo Maresca again having been a part of the Italian’s Premier League 2-winning side in 20-21, and joins City after a promising campaign on loan at rivals Coventry last term. His competitive debut for City could come against the Sky Blues on the opening weekend of the Championship season in three weeks’ time.

An England youth international, Doyle has been praised for his quality in possession, and further strengthens City’s back-line following the departures of Caglar Soyuncu and Daniel Amartey this summer, with Conor Coady already through the door.

Leicester City are said to be “close” to signing Brondby goalkeeper Mads Hermansen.

Hermansen emerged as a transfer target for Leicester this week as they look to bolster their options between the sticks. Now The Telegraph is reporting that City are “growing increasingly confident” of agreeing a deal worth in the region of £6million.

The 23-year-old is understudy to former Foxes keeper Kasper Schmeichel in the Denmark national team. Bournemouth, Fulham, Everton, and Burnley have previously been credited with interest in him.

Danny doubles down

Title-winning midfielder Danny Drinkwater has again outlined his willingness to rejoin Leicester City as he searches for a new club.

Drinkwater has been a free agent for a year since being released by Chelsea, but is hoping to get back into the game. He says he has received offers over the past 12 months, but nothing that has excited him.

The 33-year-old explained at the start of the month that returning to the King Power Stadium would interest him, and he has again said he would love to help City get back into the Premier League. His most recent football came in the Championship, on loan at Reading from Chelsea, and he has implied that City are the only club he would return to the division for.

Amartey set for Besiktas

Daniel Amartey is said to be close to joining Besiktas after leaving Leicester City.

The 28-year-old defender was one of several players to exit the King Power Stadium at the end of last season, following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.

After arriving at City back in 2016, Amartey’s contract came to an end this summer and it is understood he is now close to reaching an agreement with Turkish side Besiktas on a three-year deal.
