Everton agree fee to sign new striker

Everton agree on transfer fee to sign Youssef Chermiti – Fabrizio Romano

Everton have agreed a transfer fee with Sporting for striker Youssef Chermiti as they look to have completed their hunt for a striker, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer specialist took to Twitter on Monday afternoon, [31 July] to reveal that a deal has been completed between the two clubs with an agreement in place for the 18-year-old to sign for the Toffees.

Sean Dyche’s side have found a striker hard to come by this summer, missing out on deals for Boulaye Dia and El Bilal Toure, but now seem to have found their man in the young Portuguese forward.

Explaining the agreement on Twitter to his audience of over 17m followers, Romano wrote: “EXCL: Everton reached an agreement in principle with Sporting to sign Youssef Chermiti as a new striker.

“Deal in place between clubs — verbally agreed in the recent hours for 2004 born striker to join PL side.”

This is one deal that the club has been crying out for, another new striker.

Sean Dyche will be delighted, especially after seeing efforts for the likes of Rodrigo and El Bilal Traore conclude with no reward, and to get it done now is perfect timing.

Everton still has a friendly to play before the new season gets underway against Fulham so there is plenty of training along with that for Chermiti to get to grips with his new surroundings.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has still not featured in pre-season as he looks to build his fitness again ahead of the new season to prevent the added risk of injuries, so he cannot still be relied upon.

With Arnaut Danjuma also signed, the addition of Chermiti will instantly make this front line better than what was available last season in the Premier League.

Hopefully, the personal terms and medical can go swimmingly so this can be formalized and announced with no last-minute hiccups getting in the way.
