Simpson signs a professional contract

Aston Villa is pleased to announce Ewan Simpson has signed his first professional contract with the club.

The midfielder joined Villa’s Academy from Hearts in July 2022 and impressed with his performances for the young Lions last term.

Academy Manager Mark Harrison said: “We are delighted Ewan has signed his first professional contract.

“We have been pleased with his development since he joined us last summer from Hearts. He is a central midfield player with excellent technique and passing range.

“Ewan has continued to represent Scotland at youth international level and we look forward to seeing he how he develops.”

Aston Villa is delighted to confirm Cole Brannigan and Calum Moreland have joined the club’s Academy.

Versatile winger Brannigan and center-back Moreland, who are both 16, join from Linfield.

Academy Manager Mark Harrison said: “We are really pleased that Cole and Calum have joined us from Linfield FC in Northern Ireland.

“Cole is an attacking wide player who is an effective ball manager, very creative in the final third, and can play both sides.

“Calum is a left-sided center-back who is very competitive and comfortable playing out from the back.

“We would also like to thank Linfield FC for the way they have handled the whole matter.”
