Leeds United has won the race to sign a big name.

Glen Kamara Rangers exit now certain with Leeds United involved in transfer race as ‘when not if’ verdict emerges

It is now a matter of “when not if” Glen Kamara leaves Rangers as the midfielder has “several good offers” on the table, according to The 4th Official.

The online outlet reported via Patreon on Friday (4 August) that the Finnish international is now certain to depart, with Leeds United in the race but now not alone in moving for the 27-year-old.

The Whites have been in talks to take Kamara to Elland Road in recent weeks but have been joined by six European clubs according to Chris Jack [Herald, 2 August] over a deal worth £5.5million.

According to Jack Ligue 1’s Lyon and Stade de Reims are now in the mix, as well as Turkish duo Trabzonspor and Galatasaray, Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach and Danish champions FC Copenhagen.

Imminent

If it is that much of a foregone conclusion then from a Rangers point of view it would be highly beneficial for a deal to be wrapped up as soon as possible.

If Michael Beale can get the transfer fee and put it towards a final signing or two before the window shuts it could make all the difference ahead of the new campaign.

Amid new injuries to the likes of Ridvan Yilmaz and Ben Davies, there are suddenly question marks over the defense, so the manager moving into double figures for the transfer window’s incoming business would put some fears to rest.

Kamara seems due a new start after falling down the pecking order at Ibrox and now the transfer fee is likely worth more to Rangers than having him in the squad.

And Jose Cifuentes has finally become the ninth signing of the summer to reduce the exit-bound midfielder’s prospects further.

Whether the fact that Leeds appear to be taking their time with discussions is a sign that they are only half-sold on Kamara, or whether their ability to sign rests on players leaving, is unclear.

But with the apparent wealth of options he now has it looks like they are under major threat from the continent, and he appears set to move on sooner rather than later.

In other Rangers news, a journalist has tipped Beale to sign a “legend” to a contract this summer who could have a real “impact”.
