Medical Booked: Everton agree new signing after talks over two deals collapse – sources

Sources: Everton agrees on Chermiti deal after talks over two striker signings collapse

Everton have agreed personal terms with Sporting CP striker Youssef Chermiti, sources have told Football Insider.

The 19-year-old is expected to undergo a medical at Goodison Park in the next 48 hours.

The clubs have already agreed a fee for Chermiti, who will become the third signing of the window for Everton after Ashley Young and Arnaut Danjuma.

Everton have been in the market for a new forward all summer but talks have collapsed over multiple deals – including for El Bilal Toure and Viktor Gyokeres.

Chermiti has made just 22 appearances for Sporting – all of which came in the 2022-23 campaign.

He managed 10 starts in those outings, notching three goals and two assists for the Portuguese giants as they finished fourth in the top flight.

The Portugal Under-19 international’s contract at Sporting was set to run until June 2027.

Chermiti was only promoted to the club’s first team in January after impressing at youth level – notching three goals in 26 outings for the Under-23 and Under-19 sides.

The forward will remedy a problem position for Sean Dyche’s side – who were the second-lowest scorers in the division with 34 goals in the 2022-23 campaign.

Football Insider revealed earlier this summer (30 June) that Everton is keen to add two strikers to their squad in the summer window with Neal Maupay set to join Ellis Simms in leaving the club.
