Ipswich Town: Cieran Slicker and Jack Taylor could start in Carabao Cup clash against Bristol Rovers

Ipswich Town assistant manager Martyn Pert has said Wednesday’s Carabao Cup fixture could see a couple of new signings make their debuts for the club.

The Tractor Boys will train on their new pitch at Portman Road for the first time today following Sunday’s 2-1 victory over Sunderland and assistant manager Martyn Pert confirmed no injuries were picked up from their opening fixture.

Goalkeeper Cieran Slicker and midfielder Jack Taylor are in the frame to play against Bristol Rovers in the first-round tie as the Blues may make a significant number of changes to the team.

Pert said in today’s pre-match press conference on TownTV: “It’ll be a decision the manager makes, but there will be changes because it was such a tough game at the weekend and we’ve got another big game on Saturday.

Ipswich Town midfielder Panutche Camará joins League One Charlton Athletic on season-long loan

The 26-year-old endured a frustrating injury-hit first season in Suffolk, making just one start and three substitute appearances since joining from the Blues’ third-tier title rivals Plymouth Argyle for a reported £500,000 fee in September 2022.

Following several operations on the Guinea-Bissau capped player’s groin playing a big part in restricting his involvement last season, and with Town well stocked in the central midfield area, manager Kieran McKenna had recently spoken of his desire to get him the benefit of regular games out on loan.

But Ipswich has inserted a January recall clause should they wish to get Camará, who scored his first goal for the club in the Emirates FA Cup victory at Bracknell Town, back into action at Portman Road.
