medical in a few hours: Tottenham Hotspur defender has joined leeds united

Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.

The 25-year-old was on loan at French club Rennes last season and he did reasonably well for them. He is unwanted at Tottenham and the player is expected to leave the club this summer.

According to Tottenham insider Paul O Keefe, the 25-year-old Welsh international defender is set to join Leeds United and he will have a medical with them tomorrow.

Apparently, the Championship outfit will sign the 25-year-old on loan and the two parties are looking to include an obligation to buy in the deal.

The Athletic have now reported about the loan move as well.

Rodon clearly does not have a future at Tottenham and it makes sense for him to move on permanently and focus on his career.

The 25-year-old needs regular football at this stage of his career and Leeds will be able to provide him with that opportunity.

The Whites seemed quite vulnerable defensively last season, and they were eventually relegated from the Premier League. They will look to bounce back strongly and return to the top flight as soon as possible. Rodon could prove to be a quality acquisition for them and he will certainly help them tighten up defensively.

The Welsh international is still only 25 and he is likely to improve further with game time and experience. If Leeds can sign him on loan this summer with a reasonably priced obligation to buy, it could prove to be a smart piece of business for them in the long run.
