Report: Tottenham are readying an offer for 22-year-old Premier League star

The Daily Mail report that Tottenham are now readying an official bid for Nottingham Forest forward, Brennan Johnson.

Forest are said to value the 22-year-old at £50m this summer, but Tottenham could offer some of their own players as potential makeweights, with Davinson Sanchez mentioned as a possibility.

Spurs apparently see Johnson as a good added goal threat following the sale of Harry Kane, offering Ange Postecoglou some pace across the front line. He is seen as a good profile for this Tottenham side.

Chelsea, Brentford, and Spurs all like Johnson

While Chelsea and Brentford are also both keen on the youngster, the latter of which have seen a bid of £35m turned down this summer, Johnson prefers a move to North London.

The Forest star, who can play out wide or through the middle, believes he will have a better chance of establishing himself at Tottenham rather than Chelsea.

This comes after Alasdair Gold backed Spurs to make an offer for Johnson before the window slams shut (FootballLondon).

The report does not mention how much Tottenham plan on bidding for Brennan Johnson.

Forest could sign 30 new players by selling Brennan Johnson, but his ability will be cherished

Spurs Web Opinion:

Brennan Johnson would not be my first choice at that kind of price. I think an out-and-out striker like Gift Orban for cheaper would actually be a better addition, or push the boat out and go for Eberechi Eze. But, at the same time, if Ange Postecoglou wants him, then in Ange we trust.
