Tottenham star who was ruled out due to injury is now back in training

Tottenham player claims he is ‘getting closer and closer to injury return

Bryan Gil has taken to social media to share an update on his recovery from injury and suggests he is getting closer to full fitness again.

Things haven’t exactly gone to plan for Bryan Gil since he arrived at Tottenham from Sevilla in 2021. For the majority of his stay in North London, the young Spaniard has been forced to watch from the sidelines.

In the last two years, Gil has spent time back in Spain, completing loan spells with Valencia, and his former club Sevilla.

The 22-year-old has been back at Spurs this summer and has been attempting to impress his new manager, Ange Postecoglou. It has even been suggested that the winger ‘ticks a lot of boxes’ for the Australian coach (Football. London).

It had been reported that Gil could end up back at Sevilla for the season ahead, with the La Liga side hopeful of reuniting with their former star according to ABC Sevilla (via Sport Witness).

However, the chances of a move away were reduced when it was announced Gil had undergone surgery at the start of August to resolve an ongoing injury (The Athletic).

Bryan Gil is on his way back from injury at Spurs

While the recovery time was expected to be around two months, it seems Gil is making good progress. The Spurs man shared a post to his Instagram revealing a happy smile and a positive message for the fans.

Gil captioned the photo: “Getting closer and closer.” The post was accompanied by a muscle emoji and a signal that he would ‘soon’ be playing football again.

It will be interesting to see how Gil fits into Postecoglou’s plans, if at all. I am curious as to whether he would still be at the club had he been fully fit and able to join another team this summer.
