Leeds table offer to sign 18-goal attacker, bid €2m short – Player open to joining Whites

Leeds United are interested in signing Genk star Joseph Paintsil, according to claims from Belgium.

The winger managed 18 goals and 14 assists from 39 games during the last campaign and has a goal and two assists from eight games this season. His fine form has convinced the Whites to table an offer to secure his services.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri took to Twitter to state Leeds have offered €8m plus €2m bonuses.

The Jupiler Pro League side has rejected that and demanded at least €10m in fixed fee to let go of the 25-year-old this summer. Tavolieri adds the talks between the two clubs are ongoing.

The journalist’s claim is echoed by Het Laatste Nieuws, who provides more updates on this case.

Southampton have also shown interest in the forward and a swap deal involving him and Paul Onuachu was on the cards. However, the Ghana international has already rejected the Saints.

HLN states the Genk star’s entourage claims he is open to making a switch to Leeds. The report adds there should be more clarity on the attacker’s future in the next few days.

 

Both Tavolieri and HLN don’t mention whether Leeds are ready to meet Genk’s demand to sign Paintsil.
