Fresh Leeds United Update Emerges Regarding Striker Deal

Leeds United’s deal for Genk striker Joseph Paintsil has hit a stumbling block as the Championship club turn their attention elsewhere, according to SkySports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

The proposed deal for Paintsil to join Leeds has stalled due to the player’s dispute with Genk over an exit package he is due when leaving the club.

With no breakthrough looking likely Daniel Farke’s side have turned their attention elsewhere despite still holding onto hope that the deal can be resurrected.

The 25-year-old’s preference remains to complete a move to Elland Road but may have to resolve his dispute quickly to avoid missing out completely.

The Ghanaian joined Genk in 2018 and has since made 143 appearances for the club, scoring on 32 occasions whilst also chipping in with 25 goals.

He helped his side win the Belgian title in the 19/20 season and the Supercup the following campaign. Shortly after however he departed on loan to Ankaragücü in Turkey where he made 33 appearances before returning to his parent club.

Daniel Farke’s side are desperately looking for additions after an exodus occurred from their playing squad following their relegation to the Championship.

They have added Joel Piroe, Ethan Ampadu, Karl Darlow and Joe Rodon to their side so far but will need much more if they are to target an immediate return to the top flight.

They have been linked to several moves over the last few days and it is reasonable to expect several more to come to light before the deadline closes on Friday.

Farke cannot afford to wait for any player and risk missing out. He needs bodies through the door and quickly otherwise he could find his side scrambling for answers as games come thick and fast.

With only one victory in their first four games it the club need to find answers or pressure will soon mount.
