Nottingham Forest star player confirmed ‘safe and healthy’ following Morocco earthquake

Andrey Santos of Nottingham Forest has verified that he is’safe and fine’ following the earthquake in Morocco.

The latest Nottingham Forest news from NottinghamshireLive, as Morocco, the Reds’ new boy, was devastated by a big earthquake.

Andrey Santos, a Nottingham Forest loanee, has been verified “safe and well” after being in Morocco when a major earthquake struck the nation on Friday evening (September 8).

At the time of writing, the official death toll was 632, with 329 persons injured in the natural disaster. Santos is in the country on international duty with Brazil’s under-23 team this week.

The team, which is preparing for the Olympics, was at their hotel in Fes when the earthquake struck. The team felt a tremor and briefly evacuated their hotel despite the fact that the epicentre was hundreds of kilometers away in Marrakesh.

The Brazilian football association issued a statement verifying the safety and well-being of all players of the Under-23 team and their personnel. “The CBF informs that the Brazilian Pre-Olympic Team delegation is safe in Morocco,” according to ESPN.

“According to local authorities, the country experienced a magnitude 7 earthquake on Friday night (8).” The epicentre was discovered close to Marrakesh. Athletes and delegation members felt the tremor and evacuated their hotel rooms in Fes. They were brought to the hotel pool for safety and returned to their room an hour later.”

Brazil’s under-23 squad was defeated 1-0 by Morocco on September 7 as both teams prepare for the Olympic Games next year. The two teams were scheduled to face again on Monday (September 11), however the fate of that game is now unknown.
