Leeds United ace dubs “Whites” new man after Millwall heroics

Joel Piroe is settling in well at Leeds United after joining from Swansea City in August.

Leeds United returned to winning ways over the weekend, defeating Millwall 3-0.

The Whites had a difficult start to the season, but have already gained eight points in their last four games to move up to tenth in the table.

Daniel Farke’s side took a 2-0 lead thanks to a brace from Joel Piroe, before Georginio Rutter made it 3-0 in the 81st minute.

Piroe joined the team from Swansea City in the closing days of the summer transfer window.

The Dutchman arrived for a rumored sum of £10 million or thereabouts, and these two goals demonstrate why the Championship club wanted to sign him in the last weeks of the transfer window.

Leeds are currently just two points away from the play-offs, with Farke’s team aiming for immediate promotion back to the Premier League at the first try.

Pascal Struijk has dubbed Joel Piroe after his performance at Millwall.

Piroe celebrated his key two goals for his new team by posting a message on social media.

“More of this, please,” Piroe posted on Instagram.

Pascal Struijk, Piroe’s new teammate, responded in the comments with his new nickname for his stay at Leeds.

“Bagsman,” said the defender.

Leeds will be hoping that Piroe’s performance is just the start of a good debut season at Elland Road.

The striker has now scored three goals this season, having previously scored in the 4-3 triumph over Ipswich Town in August.

The 23-year-old had scored 41 goals in two seasons at rival Swansea, where he helped the team finish 15th and 10th in his two years at the south Wales club.

How has Leeds United’s season started thus far?

Leeds had a rough start, earning only two points from their first three games, but the Whites have fared considerably better in their subsequent four games.

Farke’s style of play is beginning to click, and the players’ performances are improving.

Djed Spence’s injury on Sunday was a setback for the team, with the defender certain to miss several weeks of play as a result.

Following recent performances, the club will remain confident that a promotion charge is on the way.

A 3-0 victory over Millwall should instill confidence in the team ahead of the October international break.

Farke’s team will travel to the MKM Stadium on Wednesday night to face Hull City.

What role will Joel Piroe play for Leeds United this season?

Piroe is essential to any promotion fight Leeds engages in this year.

The forward plays a similar position as Teemu Pukki did when he was at Norwich City as the focal point of the attack that Farke needs for his style of play.

The Dutchman has the ability to score 20 goals or more in a season, which is necessary for any player hoping to get promoted.

Getting his consent can mean the difference between placing in the top two and coming in seventh or lower.
