Leeds United preparing to open contract negotiations with star player

Wilfried Gnonto and Leeds United are getting ready to start contract negotiations.

Despite seeking a transfer in the summer, Wilfried Gnonto may soon be discussing a new contract with Leeds United, according to recent rumours.

The Whites want to reward the Italy international, who is one of the club’s lowest-paid players, with a new and improved deal, according to a recent report from Football Insider.

Gnonto, 19, was destined to leave Elland Road earlier in the summer after a failed transfer, but the gifted youngster now appears to have his head down as he gets set to play a significant role in the next season.

Although his current deal doesn’t expire until 2027, the Yorkshire giants are clearly eager to hold on to one of their most valued players and are desperate to extend it.

Gnonto, who arrived at Elland Road in a £3.8 million trade from FC Zurich, has directly assisted nine goals in 33 games in all competitions during his debut season there.
