As Leeds prepare for their latest Championship match against Watford this weekend, they have a handful of loan players who have earned their way into European competition.

Marc Roca is one of them, as his Real Betis side faced their first Europa League match, an away trip to Rangers.

Leeds United midfielder Ethan Ampadu has stated that the team’s key priority this season is to be defensively solid.

Ampadu joined Leeds United from Chelsea during the summer transfer window. Since joining the club, he has appeared in every game. His performances have already garnered him praise from the Elland Road faithful.

Leeds have come a long way since their 4-3 win against Ipswich a few weeks ago. They have three successive clean sheets and are unbeaten in their previous three games. This season, Ampadu remarked, the team’s focus has been on clean sheets and defensive consistency under Daniel Farke:

“If you keep clean sheets, you can’t lose the game, so that’s the baseline and what we’re proud of.”

“At the end of the day, we’re happy with a point because when you can’t go and win a game, you have to make sure you don’t lose it.”

“We’re also a little disappointed because we had a lot of chances, especially in the first half and up until the 60-minute mark, and we just needed to be a little more clinical.”

On Saturday afternoon, Leeds will welcome Watford at Elland Road.
