Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson revealed he is feeling buoyant following the illness that forced him to miss his side’s trip to Aston Villa last weekend.

The 76-year-old felt unwell last Saturday morning before the Eagles’ 3-1 loss at Villa Park but was back leading training on Tuesday ahead of Palace’s home clash with Fulham.

Hodgson had full faith in assistant manager Paddy McCarthy and long-time lieutenant Ray Lewington taking the reins, but technical difficulties presented him with a different challenge when he tried to tune in from the hospital where he was being evaluated.

“I’m feeling good,” said Hodgson. “(The experience watching remotely was) not good. The link was sent to us, (me and) the young physiotherapist who was accompanying me, was keeping me company.
