You might be surprised where these six ex-Bristol Rovers players are presently playing.
Are you surprised by the destinations of these six ex-Rovers players?
Bristol Rovers will be seeking to make more progress this season after a respectable 2022/23 campaign.

They managed to earn promotion from League Two in a stunning fashion at the end of 2021/22, and they did well enough to keep themselves afloat in the third division, which must be considered a noteworthy performance in and of itself.

Joey Barton’s side hasn’t fared any better this season, but they can’t afford to take anything for granted because League One is a fiercely tough league.

Rovers may have been able to lose the likes of Plymouth Argyle, Ipswich Town, and Sheffield Wednesday since the end of last season, with all three teams showing to be dominant, but making real progress this season will be difficult.

Looking back in time, we take a look at where the following six ex-Rovers players are now playing. It may surprise you where they are now playing.

Lines was playing for Stevenage in the then-League Two during the 2021/22 season, making 31 league appearances.

Lines was playing for Stevenage in the then-League Two during the 2021/22 season, and he made 31 league appearances.

With this in mind, with the player managed to record three goals and two assists, it may come as a surprise that he chose to play for Bath City in the National League South division, two steps down the English football pyramid.

To be fair, he is 37, yet it may surprise some that he has been playing in the minor leagues for more than a year. Congratulations on making 36 league appearances last season.

1.Chris Lines – Bath City 2.Ellis Harrison – MK Dons 3.Matty Taylor – Forest Green Rovers 4.Ed Upson – Bury Town 5.Tony Craig – Dorking Wanderers

6.Tyler Smith – Bradford City

Smith was only on loan at Rovers, but because he played for the club, he deserves to be on this list!

The forward wasn’t exactly a first-team regular at Hull City, but he had previously done well in the third tier for Swindon and did manage to gain some crucial second-division experience during his stint at the MKM Stadium.

This is why it’s surprising that he’s dropped to the fourth tier with Bradford.
