Luton Town and Sheffield United are taking Premier League money and running – and that’s fine. English football’s finances are in shambles, and teams have every right to do whatever they want to preserve their futures.

The other 17 clubs may deny such an idea to avoid any perceived arrogance, but their fans will swiftly reveal the truth: they’ve all circled the home games against Burnley, Sheffield United, and Luton Town as must-wins.
Burnley’s problems are complicated. They have suffered defeats at the hands of four bigger and better teams: Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, and Manchester United. Their unstoppable Championship style under Vincent Kompany is proving difficult to recreate.
The complicating element is that half of their team is new. The world chuckled when Nottingham Forest recruited 20 players last summer; Burnley signed 15.
This is roughly what we predicted for Sheffield United and Luton Town. Anything less would have been overkill. Paul Heckingbottom’s squad is now poorer than it was when he was promoted.
