Ally McCoist, a Rangers and Scotland football hero, was fined for speeding twice on the same day.

The former striker from Bridge of Weir appeared in Dumbarton Justice of the Peace Court on Tuesday for sentence on two counts of exceeding a 30mph speed limit.

On January 6, this year, he was caught driving at 48mph in a 30mph zone on Ballyhennan Crescent in Tarbet.

On the same day, he was also observed driving at 55mph in a different 30mph zone on the A83 in Arrochar.

McCoist was penalised £200 for the Tarbet offence and £310 for the Arrochar incident at a hearing conducted in the Dumbarton Sheriff Court buildings on Tuesday.

McCoist, who turned 61 on Sunday, is most renowned for his 15-year stint as a Rangers player, during which he made 418 appearances and scored 251 goals.

His playing career also includes stops at St Johnstone, Sunderland, and Kilmarnock, where he served as manager for three years from 2011 and 2014, having previously worked as an assistant to the late Walter Smith.

McCoist, who has 61 games for Scotland and 19 goals to his name, has recently worked as a co-commentator or studio pundit for ITV Sport, BT Sport, Sky Sports, and Amazon Prime.
