Wolves’ important player sent vexing messages to the club over his suspension.

Wolves players send a message to Manchester City following their Carabao Cup defeat.
BirminghamLive brings you the latest Wolves news as Gary O’Neil’s team are knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Championship side Ipswich.
Gary O’Neil has warned his Wolves players that “we have to pick ourselves up” before facing Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday, following their Carabao Cup defeat to Ipswich Town.

Wolves’ Hwang Hee-Chan and Toti scored within 15 minutes, but they fell to their sixth defeat in eight games under new manager O’Neil.

Omari Hutchinson kicked off the Ipswich comeback with a magnificent 28th-minute finish, but Freddie Ladapo ensured it was all square at the break. Soon after the break, Jack Taylor’s magnificent 25-yard strike proved decisive.

Hwang gave Wolves the perfect start in Ipswich by putting the visitors ahead in the fourth minute. Only Dominic Ball cleared Pablo Sarabia’s cross to Sasa Kalajdzic, and the Wolves forward sent the ball through to Hwang, who hammered past Vaclav Hladky for his fourth goal of the season.
Toti scored after a quarter-hour for Wolves to double their lead. Hladky made a fantastic stop from close range to deny full debutant Santiago Bueno’s header, but Toti was on hand to smash home on the line to make it 2-0.

Hutchinson, on loan from Chelsea, cut Ipswich’s deficit in the 28th minute. Marcus put Hutchinson through on goal, and the attacker hammered the ball past the goalkeeper to make it 2-1.

Ladapo scored Ipswich’s fourth goal of the season seven minutes before half-time. Harness was the creator once more, this time with a superb pass into Ladapo, who turned well before his effort was too powerful for Bentley.

Ipswich completed the comeback in the 58th minute when Taylor scored from 25 yards. Harness provided another assist after passing into Taylor’s path, but the summer signing did the rest with a brilliant strike from range that was too excellent for Bentley to put the hosts ahead 3-2.

“We came up against a side that was in good form. It was disappointing to lose after leading 2-0. A poor first goal shifted the momentum. “They didn’t cause us much trouble in the second half, and we missed a couple of decent chances around their goal,” said O’Neil.

“There is no magic wand; it is hard work, and there are things that need to be fixed, and we are working hard to fix them.” We’re dissatisfied with the outcome, but we must dust ourselves off and get back to work. A difficult game is coming up next week.

“I am really proud of the players,” Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna told BBC 5 Live. The club has not seen Premier League opposition in some years. We needed to show character and daring to maintain being proactive on and off the ball after being down two-nil early on.

“We deservedly clawed our way back into the game, and it was a fantastic way to win it in the second half.”

“Every week in the Championship, we are put to the test.” It’s a major step up, and one of our ambitions was to sign with a Premier League club and put ourselves to the test. It’s a terrific stepping stone for us, and the guys have gained valuable experience.”
