A Bournemouth footballer has been arrested for repining.

Solanke, who recently signed a new contract with the Cherries, has started the season strongly, scoring four goals in eight games in all competitions.

His most recent came in the second half of Wednesday’s game against Stoke, when he scored after coming off the bench at halftime.

As Andoni Iraola’s team advanced to the fourth round, Joe Rothwell scored his first goal for the club, but the triumph was tainted when Solanke went out with an ankle injury late in the game.

‘Dom has done well,’ Iraola stated after the game of his star striker. ‘We needed a change of energy, and the entire team had a different mindset in the second half,’ said the coach.

‘Unfortunately, he was unable to complete the game, which was arguably the worst part of the evening.

‘We’ll see tomorrow if the ankle is swollen or not, but we have a really tight timetable, so he won’t be able to play this weekend.’

Solanke has appeared in every game this season and made an impact off the bench in the 51st minute with a nice finish on the turn.

After the draw placed the two Premier League sides together, the 26-year-old can now look forward to a fourth-round match against his former club Liverpool.

‘We would not have selected Liverpool, for sure, but I believe we must force them to play a good game and come here and beat us. ‘It’s not an easy draw,’ Iraola admitted.

However, with Bournemouth hosting Arsenal on Saturday, there will be a greater concern about Solanke’s fitness.

The Cherries have yet to win a league game this season, and they presently lie in 16th place with three points from their first six games.
