NEWS FLASH: Everton offers a contract to a Manchester United target.

Everton are preparing an offer for Jarrad Branthwaite following Man United’s swoop, according to sources.

According to Football Insider, Everton are determined to give defender Jarrad Branthwaite a new deal.

The 21-year-old has just broken into the side and formed a strong partnership with James Tarkowski at the heart of the Toffees defense.

Following his experience-building loan at PSV Eindhoven in the 2022-23 season, Branthwaite has been a revelation for cash-strapped Everton.

After his impressive stay, PSV were ready to sign him in the summer window, but a deal could not be reached with Everton, who wanted to keep him at Goodison Park.

Man United and other Premier League clubs were interested in the England Under-21 international.

However, Branthwaite’s contract expires in June 2025, leading Everton to prepare for contract negotiations.

On his current contract, he is believed to make £15,000 each week.

Everton’s 6ft 5in defender has started the previous four Premier League games and impressed as Sean Dyche’s side won their first league game against Brentford last week (23 September).

On Wednesday (27 September), he also started as Everton defeated Aston Villa 2-1 in the League Cup.

Branthwaite, a Carlisle United academy graduate, played his first full season of senior football for PSV past season.

In 37 games, he had four goals and two assists as they won the Dutch Cup.

Everton’s next game is on Saturday (30 September) at struggling Luton Town.

This season, the Toffees have four points from a possible 18 in the Premier League.

In other news, Everton have agreed a deal with a Portsmouth player.
