BREAKING NEWS: Sports journalist shares shocking Rangers manager update

New Rangers manager information is provided by a Sky Sports journalist as new training-ground video surfaces.

According to Sky Sports writer Mark Benstead, Rangers won’t likely name a new manager until the weekend.

After losing to Aberdeen by a score of 3-1 in the Scottish Premiership the previous day, The Gers decided to break ways with Michael Beale on Sunday, October 1.

Kevin Muscat is widely seen as the favorite to take over at Ibrox, while Graham Potter, Jesse Marsch, and Kjetil Knutsen have also been touted.

On Monday [2 October], Benstead delivered an update on the managerial situation as Rangers players trained under temporary manager Steven Davis.

“The club does need to take a bit of time here,” Benstead wrote on Twitter, according to Football Daily.

“It’s our understanding that we shouldn’t expect a new man in place, at the moment, before next weekend’s game against St Mirren.”

The rumour mill

In a perfect world, Rangers would have a new manager in place before their Europa League match against Aris Limassol on Thursday [5 October].

Then comes a trip to St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership before a two-week break for the season’s second international break.

What matters most is that the appropriate appointment be made. If that means having to wait another week or two, so be it.

When a high-profile managerial post falls empty, there is always a lot of talk about who might be the next man in.

Every fan will have a favorite, whether it is former Chelsea manager Graham, former Gers defender Muscat, or an outsider.

Prior to Beale’s sacking being official over the weekend, the Gers board may have contacted out to a few people.

Fingers hoping they get their top choice when the official statement comes out, whenever that may be.
