The look on Tom Lockyer’s face after opening the score for Luton Town was priceless.
Our captain, who caused us all concern when he fainted in the EFL Championship Final at Wembley, appeared to have won the lotto.

Despite the fact that Tom’s goal came from the opposite end of the field, our captain made sure he enjoyed his celebration.

In fact, when it comes to goals, our Tom is on a roll.
According to the statistics, Tom has now scored four goals in his last ten league games, which equals the number of goals he has scored in his previous 163 league outings.

With the goal, Tom has now scored on five occasions in 2023, trailing only Carlton Morris, who has scored on thirteen occasions.

Following the game, Tom spoke to the media, as reported by the BBC, and expressed his gratitude to the fans, saying:

“Look at the photos at the end.” Since the beginning of the season, the fans have been nothing short of amazing.

“We had a couple of performances where we weren’t at our best, and they were there for us.” It’s unique. You can see they know we’ll do anything for the shirt.”

And we respect that, but when it came to his goal, albeit a jumbled one, Tom added:

“It doesn’t matter how the goals are scored. I hoped that by simply gambling, it would happen again, and they all count.”

They certainly do!

Is it too much to ask for a repetition of Tom’s goal to start the Hatters on their road to a memorable win this Tuesday evening when Vincent Kompany brings his Burnley team to Kenilworth Road?
