Damian Lillard discloses his biggest regret regarding the Milwaukee Bucks trade saga
Milwaukee Bucks news: Not many people saw this coming. Damian Lillard was regarded as a devoted member of the Portland Trail Blazers, possibly one of the last in the NBA.
Everything changed a few months ago when the seven-time All-Star stated his intention to depart Portland.
Damian Lillard Is Regretting Something
What happened next was a whirlwind for both Lillard and the Blazers. It turned into a tumultuous divorce, with Portland’s front office even dismissing Dame’s plea to cancel his trade demand after his deal with the Miami Heat fell through.
While Lillard concedes that he would not have done things differently, he does have some regrets about how things turned out:
“Looking back, I don’t think there’s anything I would’ve done differently,” he told Andscape’s Marc J. Spears. “I wish communication had been better during that time so there would have been fewer misunderstandings.” Throughout the process, I felt completely misunderstood. I’m not sure whether there was anything I could have done differently. I’m just glad I ended up in a scenario that suited me. We have a fantastic opportunity to win. I’m playing with a fantastic player on a deep roster in another tiny town that values family.”
I’m sure the Portland faithful share my sentiments. That’s all water under the bridge now, and to be honest, it won’t impact how fans regard Lillard as a Blazers legend.
Damian Signs with the Milwaukee Bucks
As they say, all good things must come to an end. Lillard can now begin a new chapter in his career, one that he hopes will culminate in his first title.
Damian says he couldn’t be happier with where he’s ended up, despite everything he’s been through:
“It’s a humble setting.” “It’s laid back,” he remarked. “I played for [former Blazers head coach] Terry [Stotts] for my first nine years as a [assistant] coach.” We have someone in the training room who I’ve known for five years, [chief athletic trainer] Jess Cohen. Faces you’ve seen before. I used to play with Robin [Lopez]. I used to play with Pat [Connaughton]. I’m just glad it ended in a circumstance where I could walk into something that works for me. I’ll have the ability to accomplish what I ultimately want to accomplish, and it’s an environment in which I feel immediately at ease.”
Will Damian Lillard reach his lofty goals with the Bucks? We’ll find out soon enough.
