Sheffield Wednesday boss Munoz left Johnson out of the registered Championship squad last month.

It’s one of many decisions that’s left Wednesday fans baffled with Johnson having played an important role for the Owls last time round, scoring three and assisting seven more in 44 League One appearances.

He’s yet to play a single minute of competitive football this season and was barely played in pre-season.

And now, Johnson has revealed on Instagram that he’s training solo in Dubai with a professional fitness coach.

Of all the baffling team selection decisions Munoz has made this season, and continues to make, Johnson’s exile is perhaps one of the more unexplainable.

Why a player who was so important last season has been completed exiled from the first-team remains to be seen.

And what’s more frustrating for Wednesday fans is that the likes of Juan Delgado continues to be deployed at left-wing back when Johnson would do a much better job.

But fair play to Johnson for maintaining his fitness. What the season ahead holds for him remains to be seen, but it looks like a January move could well be in the offing.
