NEWS NOW: Leeds United confirms key player is set to depart from Elland Road

Djed Spence is likely to join Leeds United from Tottenham Hotspur as a replacement for Cody Drameh, who is scheduled to depart the club before the transfer deadline.
Leeds manager Daniel Farke wants to address the right-back position, thus Drameh’s exit clears the way for Spence’s arrival.
Leeds are unlikely to obtain a substantial fee for Drameh because his contract is coming to an end and the club’s position has been weakened by Spence’s arrival.

Cody Drameh is due to depart Leeds United before the transfer deadline on Friday night, with the club set to complete the acquisition of Djed Spence from Tottenham Hotspur as his replacement.

Djed Spence will join Leeds United.
The Whites appeared to have a strong department at right-back, with captain Luke Ayling starting the season there. Drameh was also highly regarded following successful loan periods with Cardiff and Luton in the previous 18 months, with the teenager assisting the Hatters to promotion.

However, manager Daniel Farke attempted to sign Norwich’s Max Aarons, but Bournemouth beat Leeds to his signature at the last minute.

So that’s an area in which the German is interested, and it was revealed on Tuesday that Spence has passed a physical, with Leeds prepared to sign him from Tottenham for a £1 million loan fee.

What exactly does this mean for Cody Drameh?
Spence’s arrival means that Leeds will look to add a right-back, and journalist Fabrizio Romano has stated that Drameh is expected to leave before the deadline of 11 p.m. on Friday.

“Djed Spence has completed medical tests at Leeds United and is set to sign a loan deal from Tottenham Hotspur.” Cody Drameh will be allowed to leave Leeds on loan or permanently. Drameh will not accept a new contract, and the entrance of Djed Spence clears the way for his departure.”

It’s a shame for all sides that Drameh hasn’t been able to make as much of an impact at Elland Road as many would have hoped, considering he received high praise while on loan in the Championship earlier.

But he hasn’t always impressed for Leeds, and he was pulled at halftime against Ipswich on Saturday, despite only coming on as a substitute in the first half. As a result, a move may be the best option for all parties.

What kind of fee will Leeds receive?

It’s tough to predict what kind of sum he’d demand, given how Leeds’ position has been damaged by Spence’s arrival, as well as Drameh’s contract predicament. But it’s safe to say it won’t be a large sum.

Summer transfer plans for Leeds United
There will be a lot of activity surrounding Leeds in the coming days, with Farke eager to bolster his team, so numerous acquisitions are on the cards.

More exits beyond Drameh are also possible, as a number of Leeds players have been linked with moves away. Finally, these things happen quickly, and the recruitment staff must be prepared to act if key players leave.

Leeds return to action on Saturday, hosting Sheffield Wednesday.
