NEWS UPDATE: Everton and Dyche are considering a move to recruit a new “ludicrously skilful” forward for free.

Everton are rumored to be one of several Premier League clubs interested in signing a “skilled” new forward who may be available on a free transfer.

What is the most recent Everton transfer rumor?
Over the summer, the Toffees and Sean Dyche reinforced their team by bringing in a number of new players, the most of whom were attackers. Along with versatile full-back Ashley Young, forwards Beto and Chermiti joined on permanent contracts, while wingers Arnaut Danjuma and Jack Harrison joined on loan from Villarreal and Leeds United, respectively.

The club did make a profit during the recent transfer window, with the two big-money departures being Moise Kean and Alex Iwobi. On the pitch, though, goals and results have once again been a struggle, with only six goals and one win from the first seven Premier League games. As a result, it appears that attention is already being paid.

Many clubs are keeping a watch on Jota’s status with Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad, despite the fact that he only joined the club from Celtic in the summer. Jota’s current employers have not registered him to play in the Saudi Pro League, and talks are ongoing to find a solution, which might include contract termination.

If he gets his desire, the Portuguese forward may become a free agent, with Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou eager for a reunion. Everton, Brentford, Crystal Palace, Fulham, and West Ham are also keeping an eye on the issue, although the player’s preference is Tottenham.

Where does Jota perform?
Jota can play on the left or right wing and has even played in a central role at times during his career, so if a deal were to go through, he would provide Dyche with a diverse attacking option. The 24-year-old, who doesn’t have a weak foot and appears to be in his prime, has a career-high worth according to Transfermarkt, and shined for Celtic last season, contributing to 21 league goals in 29 games, which explains why Al Ittihad were willing to pay a premium cost for his services earlier this year.

When considering who should be named Player of the Year, reporter Dominik Diamond named the forward as one of Celtic’s greatest performers earlier this year, characterizing him as

“I would say that his growth has been very impressive.” I would argue that in the previous four months, he has matured into a very mature role at his club. He’s always present at the big occasions, which is vital.”

Jota’s situation is one to keep an eye on in the months leading up to the New Year, and if he does become a free agent, Everton may try to make a move; however, it appears that they would have stiff competition for his services.
