Five Broncos has gone as a veteran accepts a pay cut; Eels swoop for Tigers star
Following the club’s awards dinner on Thursday, the Broncos acknowledged the departure of five players.
Logan Bayliss and Brendan Frei have been released by Brisbane, while grand final stars Herbie Farnworth (Dolphins), Thomas Flegler, and Keenan Palasia have all joined rival clubs.
Farnworth and Flegler are joining Wayne Bennett’s Dolphins, while Palasia is headed down the road to play for the Titans.
Corey Oates, a veteran winger, has reportedly accepted a pay cut and re-signed with the Broncos through the end of next season.
Payne Haas won his fifth Paul Morgan Medal in a row on Thursday night when he was voted the club’s best-and-fairest for 2023.
Haas received 80 votes, with Adam Reynolds (64) and Reece Walsh (51) rounding out the top three. He has surpassed champion halfback Allan Langer, who won the trophy four times in a row from 1993 to 1996.
