Kirk Cousins delivers a strong statement on the trade front.

“Anything else is not worth my time or energy or attention.”

Whether or whether it happens remains to be seen, but Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins’ name has been continually mentioned in trade rumors, particularly about the New York Jets. While Cousins’ contract included a no-trade clause, he is in the final year of his deal with the Vikings, who are now 1-4.

While Minnesota has the potential to turn things around after recently facing the reigning Super Bowl champs, the team placed Justin Jefferson (hamstring) on injured reserve on Wednesday. This has spurred even more speculation about a Cousins trade.

Cousins was asked Wednesday, when it became apparent that Jefferson would miss at least four games, if he could see a time when he would renounce his no-trade clause. The NFL’s trade deadline is Oct. 31, and Cousins would have to facilitate a deal with another team in order to be transferred.

Instead of commenting, Cousins stated that he is focused on the Chicago Bears in Week 6.

“You know, I am just very focused on the Bears and going 1-0 this week, and anything else is not worth my time, energy, or attention,” Cousins stated, according to Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com.

Cousins has completed 67.2 percent of his passes for 1,498 yards, 13 touchdowns, and four interceptions through five games this season. While injuries will almost surely factor into any trade talks, all eyes will be on the Vikings and, presumably, how Zach Wilson performs against the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday, as Minnesota seeks to navigate its future beyond Cousins.
