Leon Bailey's Villa future lies in the balance: Inconsistent performances for club and country could leave whizzy winger seeking a new club

The 26-year-old’s contract expires in June 2025, therefore he will have 18 months left on his agreement during the January transfer window.

Bailey has made a solid start to the new season, scoring four goals and assisting twice in 11 games across all competitions.

Aston Villa are seeking to construct a squad capable of competing for trophies, and the club has a lot of ambition behind the scenes.

Bailey joined the Midlands giants in 2021 as part of their first wave of big-money acquisitions since regaining Premier League status.

Villa paid a reported cost of £25 million to Bayer Leverkusen for the winger, who is said to earn £100,000 a week.

He has yet to reach the desired levels since joining the Premier League, and it is believed that boss Unai Emery is concerned about future injury issues for Bailey.

The 26-year-old missed much of his debut season at Villa Park but has since established himself as a regular option for the Midlands giants.

Nonetheless, the club is willing to extend Bailey’s contract in order to protect his transfer worth.

In 65 games for the club since his arrival, he has 10 goals and eight assists.

Aston Villa are fifth in the Premier League, having won five of their first eight games.

The Villains will play West Ham United next week (22 October) before traveling to AZ Alkmaar in the Europa Conference League (26 October).

In other news, the midfielder wants to leave Aston Villa after a fight with Emery.
