After a time in Greece, he returned to the Championship with West Bromwich Albion. Following the departure of Jesse Marsch last season, the Whites would try to entice their former assistant back to Yorkshire after guiding the Baggies from the relegation zone to just outside the play-off places.

The Spaniard would demonstrate his class by signing a new long-term contract at the Hawthorns, although interest from Leeds United resurfaced this summer. The new deal proved to be a financial barrier that the Whites were unwilling to cross, and they offered Daniel Farke the position of head coach.

Leeds United’s January transfer objectives have been determined, with three critical voids to address.

Leeds Live spoke with Birmingham Live’s West Bromwich Albion reporter Joseph Chapman about Corberan’s time at the Baggies and why he was confident the Spaniard would decline the Whites.

Leeds United’s promotion credentials will be put to the test under Daniel Farke.
Leeds United have been put to the test in their first 11 games back in the Championship this season. The Whites are presently fifth in the league rankings, having won five and drawn four games in their first two months of action, and they are looking up rather than down the chart.

However, they are currently nine points behind the automatic promotion pace, owing to the difficulties they have had in the Championship. The Whites began the season by going three league games without a win after discovering themselves weakened and lacking the quality that would come later in the season.

Since securing victory over Ipswich Town, who are currently second, Leeds have averaged two points a game, climbing the table and showcasing their early promotion credentials, with the 3-1 loss at Southampton being their only real hiccup on what was an off day for all. Those credentials will certainly be put under the microscope over the next weeks, though, with Daniel Farke’s Leeds set to take on some of the best the Championship has to offer.
