The incident is being investigated as possible terrorism. The victims were both Swedish. The gunshot happened three miles from the stadium, around 45 minutes before kickoff.

Sweden’s game was started by Gyokeres, who left Coventry to join Sporting Clube De Portugal in the summer. The forward was on the scoresheet in the first half, but after learning about the shooting, it is said that both sets of players chose not to play in the second half of the match, with the score at 1-1.

Play is suspended due to the events that occurred in Brussels earlier tonight, according to the Belgian national team’s Twitter account on X, formerly known as Twitter. We are thinking about everyone who is impacted.

A statement from UEFA stated that the match between Belgium and Sweden for UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying has been abandoned due to a suspected terrorist attack that occurred in Brussels this evening. The decision was made after consulting with both teams and the local police authorities, but it took more than an hour for the game to be officially called off. “More information will be shared in due course.”

Janne Andersson, the manager of Sweden, stated following the match that the players had made the decision to stay in for the second half of the match. He told a press conference, “I felt it was completely unreal.”

At a press conference, he stated.

“What sort of world is it that we live in now? I heard that and nearly started crying, even though I was meant to be having a nice conversation with the players. The team unanimously decided to skip the game out of respect for the victims and their families as soon as they began speaking.

For their own protection, supporters were held inside the stadium after the abandonment was verified. Shortly after 11 p.m. UK time, the 35,000-strong audience was successfully evacuated.
