This is unbelievable: Check what happened to Brock Purdy today

Following their second consecutive loss, this time to the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football, the San Francisco 49ers found out that starting quarterback Brock Purdy would need to be placed in concussion protocol, which would potentially affect his availability for the team’s Week 8 matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Purdy is the most recent injury to hit players on the 49ers, who also have injuries to Deebo Samuel (shoulder) and Trent Williams (ankle) as they attempt to break out of their current slump.

Fortunately, star running back Christian McCaffrey was able to get back into the mix last week after dealing with an injury of his own, but potentially losing all three of these players for a matchup with the Bengals is not great news for a team that desperately needs to get back on track.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Purdy has officially been listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against Joe Burrow and company at Levi’s Stadium in the Bay Area.

If Purdy is ultimately ruled out of this game in Week 8, the 49ers will run with veteran backup Sam Darnold, who might be all the team needs under center to get by the Bengals, who have struggled all season, especially on the road (1-2).

However, the 49ers will hold out hope that they can have their star quarterback back on the field, which will certainly give the team their best chance to get their sixth win of the season.

So far this season, Purdy has thrown for 1,668 yards, 11 touchdowns, and three interceptions.
