NFL news: Jimmy Garoppolo benched for Las Vegas Raiders, contract value, changes, Aidan O'Connell quarterback

This week, Detroit Lions rookie linebacker Jack Campbell’s pocketbook is a little lighter. In the fourth quarter of Monday Night Football, Detroit’s 2023 first-round selection was tagged for roughing the passer, a 15-yard penalty, for a low hit on Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Campbell has been fined $14,871 by the NFL for the infringement.

“They got after us up front a little bit,” Garoppolo said after the Raiders lost 26-14 at Ford Field. “I didn’t get the ball out on time, so minor things like that.” I think they had a fantastic plan, since that’s a good defense and a good squad over there, so it’s difficult to win when you come into their house and don’t perform up to standard.” Dan Campbell praised Detroit’s defense for its determination, noting that the unit recorded six sacks in the second

half to help the team earn its sixth victory of the season.

“Outstanding, top to bottom, those guys really came through,” Campbell went on to say. “That was one of the things we discussed, transitioning from play pass to rush and then working the games on third down, and those guys all go hand in hand.”

“Alex (Anzalone), Jack (Campbell), all of them inside with (John) Cominsky and (Aidan Hutchinson) Hutch, (Julian Okwara) J.O., (Derrick) Barnes, because they all run the pick games, the twist games,” Campbell went on to say. “However, we had six sacks and nine quarterback hits.” I mean, it was all teamwork there. We appear to be a tenacious defense, as if it is how we expect to play defense. We’re aggressive, we play tight coverage, and we challenge. Jerry (Jacobs) and Cam (Sutton) performed an excellent job, in my opinion. As a result, our defense made an incredible effort.”
