Golden State Warriors has been urged to trade a top class player due to a major issue
The Golden State Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson’s future is still being questioned in light of his lackluster start to the 2023–24 NBA season.
The 33-year-old veteran was dismissed from the Minnesota Timberwolves game on Tuesday. On Thursday, he played against the Oklahoma City Thunder and finished with just five points on 1-10 shooting.

Thompson’s future was already in doubt because he is in the final year of his contract. The player and the team have yet to agree on a new contract, which could lead to Thompson entering free agency over the offseason.
However, pundit and former NBA power forward Kendrick Perkins has gone a step further, asking the Warriors to trade the five-time All-Star after a sluggish start to the season.
Perkins named the Philadelphia 76ers, New York Knicks, and Miami Heat as three teams interested in Thompson. Even if the Warriors were prepared to let go of the future Hall of Famer, his $43.2 million contract would make things difficult for them.
Perkins mentioned 76ers big Tobias Harris and Knicks wing R.J. Barrett as possible trade targets for Golden State, while ESPN colleague Zach Lowe dismissed the idea that the respective teams would offer those players in exchange for the out-of-form Thompson.

Thompson is averaging 13.8 points per game on 40.1% shooting from the field and 32.9% from three-point range. This is in stark contrast to last season, his first full season back following two severe injuries, when he averaged 21.9 points on 41.2% three-point shooting.
Golden State’s current form just adds to the pressure on players like Thompson and Andrew Wiggins. When the Thunder visit Chase Center on Saturday night, they’ll be looking to stop a five-game losing run.
