Reyna, who was once regarded as one of the best young players in the world of football, has only made 12 appearances this season and has not assisted or scored a goal. Instead, she has essentially been Dortmund’s replacement.

This season, he has only started twice in all competitions and has only played more than half the time.

Reyna is therefore up for grabs, and Villa is taking into consideration the possibility of acquiring the 21-year-old, who scored seven goals in the Bundesliga in just 609 minutes of play the previous season.

According to an ESPN report, the player, who has a contract with Dortmund until 2025, is “determined” to leave the team and would only cost €15–20 million.

Reyna’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has connections to both Nottingham Forest and Wolves, two other Premier League teams that have been linked to the player this January.

However, it’s possible that the England-born player stays in Europe, as Real Sociedad, Sevilla, and Marseille have all been mentioned as potential suitors for the player.

Given that Jadon Sancho’s arrival from Manchester United has reduced his chances of playing time, a January transfer is not completely out of the question.

Dortmund says Reyna may leave
The attacking midfielder is uneasy, as Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has previously acknowledged, but he also stated that he needs to work on raising his own game.

“Gio suffered a lot and got hurt a lot. The lineup we have in the middle makes it difficult,” he said to Sky Deutschland. “It is understandable that he might not be content right now. However, it’s equally critical that he apply the gas.

Reyna’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) dropped from over €50 million a few years ago to about €24 million at this point, indicating that Dortmund may be getting a good deal on the player.

SciSports, a data analytics company, believes Reyna has the potential to be an important member of Villa’s team.
