From Norwich City’s perspective, the January transfer window has been relatively quiet thus far.

The Canaries have not added a single player to the first team since the market opened at the beginning of January.

However, there have been some departures. A few months after moving to Carrow Road, midfielder Adam Forshaw left to sign a permanent contract with Plymouth Argyle, a Championship rival.Norwich City becomes one of the first Championship clubs to use Game Intelligence data

In the meantime, young players looking for more consistent playing time have gone on loan to teams like Morecambe, Northampton Town, and Notts County, respectively, including goalkeeper Archie Mair, winger Tony Springett, and defender Jaden Warner.

To give themselves the best chance of securing promotion back to the Premier League between now and the end of the season, David Wagner’s team, who is currently two points out of the play-off places in the Championship after Wednesday night’s 1-0 loss to Leeds United at Elland Road, will undoubtedly want a strong end to the window.

In light of that, we’ve looked at the most recent Norwich City transfer rumors that have surfaced right here.

Jonathan Varane is one player who seems to be Norwich’s late-window target in the near future.

It was recently reported that the Canaries, in the midst of interest from other teams, made a €2.5 million bid to sign Jonathan Varane, a 22-year-old midfielder and the half-brother of Manchester United center-back Raphael, from Spanish second-tier side Sporting Gijon.

The most recent reports from Spanish publication Diario de Cadiz, via Sport Witness, indicate that La Liga team Cadiz is now frantically trying to sign Varane as they aim to retain their Spanish top-flight status amid an ongoing relegation battle. Nevertheless, it appears they are not the only club keen to secure the midfielder’s services.

However, it’s rumored that Cadiz won’t finalize the midfielder’s signing this month, so Norwich may still have room to acquire him.

Palmer responds to the Rowe update from Wagner

Regarding departures, it appears that Jonathan Rowe is one player who is unlikely to leave Norwich City before the January transfer window closes.

With 31 appearances across all competitions, the attacker has had an incredible season for the Canaries, tallying 13 goals and dishing out four assists. Due to his performance, the 20-year-old has been the subject of a lot of conjecture, with Premier League teams including Aston Villa, Wolves, and Tottenham reportedly showing interest in hiring him.

However, Norwich manager David Wagner recently stated that he is certain Rowe will still be a Canaries player at the end of the transfer window and that he has not received any indication that the attacker will be leaving Carrow Road this month. That, according to Carlton Palmer, will give Norwich a significant boost.

The former England international responded to those remarks made by Wagner regarding Rowe’s future by telling Football League World: “David Wagner has come out and said he has no concerns about Jon Rowe leaving the club in the January transfer window.

With back-to-back victories, Norwich, who are presently in eighth place in the Championship and just a few points outside of the play-off spots, are extremely confident that he won’t go anywhere for the time being.

“The club and the manager will greatly benefit from this as they work to guarantee a play-off spot in the second half of the season.”
