  • Hellas Verona have made a loan offer to sign Norwich City’s Adam Idah this January.

In the latter stages of the winter market, the Ireland international is reportedly drawing interest from transfer agencies, according to Sky Sports.

As part of a loan deal, the Serie A team has attempted to bring the striker to the Italian top division.

It is thought that an option to buy clause could turn the loan move into a permanent transfer in the summer.

Including 12 starts, Idah has made 28 appearances for the Canaries in the Championship this season, netting six goals and dishing out one assist.

  • In the last days of the January window, Idah has become the focus of a lot of conjecture.Verona has their sights set on the 22-year-old in an attempt to increase their chances of staying in Serie A after this season.

Verona’s current offer only includes the striker’s initial loan; it is unclear what kind of fee they might be willing to pay in the summer.

  • The forward, who could be crucial to Norwich’s chances of winning the Premier League and helping David Wagner’s team advance, may be reluctant to leave.Verona is currently 16th in the table, but they are in a close relegation battle at the bottom of the Italian first division with Empoli, who are in 19th place, only one point ahead of Verona.

The role of Adam Idah at Norwich
Since making his senior football debut, Idah has been a member of Norwich after rising through the academy ranks.

During his tenure at Carrow Road, he gained Premier League experience and was called up to the Ireland national team.

  • Only Jonathan Rowe has scored more goals for the team in the Championship this season than the striker.Despite not being a reliable starter for the team, Idah’s six goals this season have shown that he is a valuable member of the team.

Although he has lagged behind Josh Sargent in Wagner’s first team plans, he might still be useful as the Norfolk club looks to finish in the top six in the second half of the season.

  • Norwich City league position

Championship Table (As it stands January 29th)
    Team P GD Pts
    9 Norwich City 29 2 41
    10 Watford 28 7 40
    11 Middlesbrough 28 1 40
    12 Preston North End 29 -12 39
    13 Bristol City 28 0 37
    14 Cardiff City 28 -4 37
    15 Plymouth Argyle 28 0 33
    16 Swansea City 28 -6 33

Norwich are ninth in the second tier standings, sitting two points adrift of the play-off places.

Wagner’s team has played one more game than most of their promotion rivals, having suffered a 1-0 defeat to Leeds United last Wednesday.

  • A 5-2 loss to Liverpool over the weekend also resulted in the team’s elimination from the FA Cup this year.On February 3, Norwich will play a crucial home match against Coventry City, who are currently ranked sixth.
  • Would be a surprise if Norwich sold Idah

It would be wise for Norwich to hold firm in keeping Idah despite this interest.

A loan move with an option to buy isn’t the most lucrative offer, and the Irishman has shown he can be quite useful off the bench and in rotation this campaign.

Injuries could also necessitate him earning another run in the starting lineup, so losing him could leave the team looking quite light in attack.

Idah has a contract until the summer of 2028, so the Canaries have a lot of leverage in any discussions over the player’s future.
