The Ravens officially add RB Dalvin Cook, adding him to the practice squad.

Owings Mills, Maryland (AP) The Baltimore Ravens signed running back Dalvin Cook to their practice squad on Friday.

The team also announced that it was placing cornerback Daryl Worley on injured reserve and adding linebacker Jeremiah Moon to the active roster. The Ravens promoted defensive back Andrew Adams and tight end Ben Mason from the practice squad to Saturday’s regular-season finale against Pittsburgh, which has no bearing on Baltimore’s playoff seeding.

Cook’s management at LAA Sports & Entertainment confirmed Thursday that he will join the Ravens after clearing waivers and becoming a free agent. The four-time Pro Bowl running back was released by the New York Jets.

CBS Sports compiled a ranking of the NFL’s top ten offseason moves, and the Baltimore Ravens ranked high.

The contract standoff between the Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson feels like a distant memory. There was speculation that Lamar would be moving on, and no Ravens fan wants to consider what Baltimore would be like without him.

Thankfully, the two came to an agreement on a new contract that will keep Jackson in Baltimore for the foreseeable future. It was viewed as a significant move in the right direction for the franchise, and it was a blockbuster signing.

But was it the best move this offseason?

CBS Sports has published a list of the top ten best offseason moves in the NFL, with Jackson’s re-signing ranked second and Aaron Rodgers’ signing with the New York Jets listed first.

“Had he and the Ravens not been able to come to terms on an extension, you would’ve had a Baltimore franchise in complete disarray and possibly even forced to trade its franchise quarterback, turning the league on its head,” according to CBS Sports. “That would have likely sent Baltimore to the bottom of the barrel and brought one obscure team to relevancy overnight.”

With no true backup plan in place if Jackson decides to depart, other from backup Tyler Huntley, who has shown flashes of brilliance at quarterback, many question what the Ravens will look like in the future.

Jackson signed on, and then even better news arrived via free agency and the NFL Draft, when the Ravens gave Lamar two legitimate offensive weapons in Odell Beckham Jr. and Zay Flowers.

The addition of Todd Monken cannot be emphasised. After being a run-first team under Greg Roman, Monken believes he will take the brakes off Lamar’s throwing ability and allow him to let the ball rip downfield.

All of this speaks well for the Ravens in the race for not only the AFC North, but the whole AFC.

“The fact that Baltimore has this situation hammered out by not only agreeing to an extension with Jackson but reshaping the offence around him with new OC Todd Monken and new weapons like Odell Beckham Jr. and Zay Flowers, the Ravens have a clear-headed view for this season,” the report said. “With all this behind them, Jackson should be able to return to MVP form and have Baltimore in the thick of the AFC North race.”

There appears to be nothing holding back Baltimore right now. After months of uncertainty about Jackson’s future, and now that the skies are clearer, maybe, just maybe, this is the year that Jackson re-establishes himself as one of the NFL’s top.
