Coventry City vs Manchester United FA Cup clash has been rescheduled

Manchester United will face Coventry City in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley Stadium next month.

The FA has reportedly been compelled to postpone the kick-off time of Manchester United’s FA Cup semi-final against Coventry City because it was designated a ‘high-risk’ match.

United will meet the Championship side at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, April 21, with Manchester City’s match against Chelsea scheduled for the evening before.

According to the Daily Mail, the FA had requested that United’s match take place at 4pm on Sunday afternoon, but the kick-off time has been moved up by 30 minutes to 3:30pm after the Metropolitan Police raised concerns about the fixture. It is expected that a formal decision to move the intended kick-off time for the second semi-final will be made at a meeting of the local Safety Advisory Group on Friday.

That means United and Coventry will know their possible FA Cup final opponents before they meet, while City and Chelsea will square off at 5:30pm on Saturday, April 20.

United, the competition’s runners-up last season, advanced to the final four with a stunning 4-3 comeback victory over Liverpool last weekend. Coventry produced a similar dramatic triumph, scoring twice late on to upset Wolves 3-2.

Both semi-finals will be shown live on terrestrial television in the United Kingdom, with the FA anticipated to make a formal announcement in the coming days.
