LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Silver and Black introduced two newly signed members of Raider Nation on Thursday.
In a press release, the Raiders announced the signing of quarterback Gardner Minshew and defensive tackle Christian Wilkins, after NFL insiders reported deals with both players earlier this week. These additions come as the Raiders announced the release of four players on Wednesday, including quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and wide receiver Hunter Renfrow.
The Raiders hosted a press conference to introduce the players on Thursday morning.
Christian Wilkins was the first to speak and appeared decked out in a black-and-white suit, with blackjack card details in the lining.
“I’m really humbled to be here,” he said. “So far, just being here today, it’s a great organization. I couldn’t be more excited about getting started here. And starting off this new chapter of my life and this new chapter of my NFL career. I’m really looking forward to it.”
Wilkins joins the Raiders after five seasons with the Miami Dolphins, where he appeared in 81 games and totaled 353 tackles in his career. He served as a two-time team captain in Miami and set a record in 2022 after racking up 98 total tackles, which, at the time, was the most tackles in a season by a defensive lineman since 1994. That record was then broken by Derrick Brown’s 103 tackles in 2023.
Last season, Wilkins started in all 17 games and finished with 63 tackles, nine sacks, and two fumble recoveries.
